Rome, 21 December (LaPresse) – ‘This success has a special flavour, because this election campaign started off with so many nasties that I honestly did not explain. I have always been in my place, I believe that my election depends on the quality, fairness and competence shown by my entire team, which was elected in its entirety’. Thus Gianni Petrucci, re-elected as president of the Federbasket. 'I thank my family, who have been close to me during this period, and then all those who have been at my side, from the General Secretary Maurizio Bertea to all the federal employees. A hug goes to Gaetano Laguardia, who left us a year ago but is always in my heart and in my memories: the dedication is for one of our employees, who a few weeks ago lost his little girl in dramatic circumstances. The three Leagues have always been at my side, and I thank them for the great work they are doing: in February we are organising a meeting with LBA, LNP, LBF and our local representatives to assess critical issues and opportunities. I also thank the Presidents of the Regional Committees, the coaches, the athletes and also the referees, who do not vote in the Assembly. We have many ideas, we will treasure our mistakes, and we will strongly relaunch the two technical projects started in the past months thanks to the work of Salvatore Trainotti and Luigi Datome and with the collaboration of Germano Foglieni. I believe I am the first president of a basketball federation elected on World Basketball Day, a coincidence that can only please me,' he added.
